@joshua, your friends are wrong. That's completely legal, and fun move to *** of your opponents. I do that all the time with green aman fellas like Llanowar Elves and Archdruid. But Giant Growth.. You little devious guy.. But yup. You can tap AFTER you declared it as a blocker. Your friends are right about that tapped creature can't BE DECLARED as a blocker. A minor difference.

As already mentioned, I was hoping this might at least get some new art. As often as it's played, we could use a refreshed look..

In my four years of playing Magic, I've never gotten one of these.

The only reason I could see for them not reprinting it is for one of those stupid reasons like "It mentions more than one in its name."

Alright, I want confirmation about one thing that my friends keep arguing with me about.

I purposefully tap out my mana with this guy out on the field. I get attacked, and I blocked with my Elf.

Before the combat damage phase, I tap it to get the one mana necessary to Giant Growth my elf.

They say that I can't do that because being tapped removes it from combat, because tapped creatures can't block. I have told them many times that I don't believe this is the case, but this knowledge is so ubiquitous among my friends that I can't argue with them without proof. Can anyone verify this for me?

I'd appreciate it.

The art, name and class don't match....but a brilliant card nonetheless this card has played many first turns.

This card is one of the best for mana ramping. If you are doing it properly, your opponent will be too preoccupied with the massive things you have on turn 3 or 4 to deal with the 1/1 creature that makes it all happen.
