I find the problem with this guy, the role he wants to play is early game dominance and swinging for some dmg. The problem is he only has bear range survivability. He pretty much dies to anything. Pretty much any 2 drop will trade with him, and allot of 1 drops in standard will too. This is one of those cases I would much rather have a 2/3 body then a 3/2.

For mono green I would much rather run Porcelain Legionnaire for my 2 drop slot. He just dominates almost anything early game, and usually demand a removal or face up to 6 or so damage. If they burn a removal on my 2 drop then mission accomplished. And 2 life in a deck were im being the aggressor isn't much of a drawback at all.

This guy LOOOOVES the Might of Oaks..

1st turn: Birds of Paradise or Llanowar Elves (preferably the birds for their evasive capabilities)
2nd turn: Garruk's Companion and any other one-drop.
3rd turn: Might of Oaks on Garruk's companion... though if they destroy the companion, you can probably also cast it on the one-drop, assuming it's a creature (which most mono-green decks should be running almost nothing but) or you can be patient and wait next turn to cast it on Birds of Paradise for an evasive seven damage.

Green needed a "super bear" for a long time... and now it finally has one. I know a lot of this review is focused on Might of Oaks, but there's just something overwhelmingly special to me about that 3 and 7 connecting into a wholesome, trampley 10.

I love this card simply because of how early in the game you can play it...it causes problems for any opponent.

This seems to be a pretty solid card. 2 for a 3/2 trample. Would be excellent with Blanchwood armor.

Still one of my favorite green common creatures. Right up there with River Boa and Leatherback Baloth.

Less interesting without Garruk's packleader. But with all the good enchantments it can still do lots of damage real quick.

I like the idea, but after trying a couple different 2 drops in my Birthing pod deck, i much prefer a wall of tanglecord or podding my Llanowar Elves or Birds of Paradise into a Myr Superion
without buffs, i find Garruk's Companion to be almost useless.

garruks companion is a good card, but he doesn't fit any where. he can be hard to play turn 2 (where he is best) in any thing except mono green. and it seems like mono green would better spending turn two ramping for a more significant threat latter.

This is an excellent card. He's a great early-game nightmare for almost anything the other guy can throw at you, and while he'll probably bite it in combat fairly quick, he's gonna sneak in 1 or 2 points of damage that wouldn't have been there otherwise.

Another one of Garruks' many monstrosties....

This card is great especially in a trample themed deck and is usually brough second turn.
A great common with an excellent ability at a good cost a 4.5/5.
