If, per chance, Innistrad has an Illusion sub-theme, they should consider making an Illusion tribal version of this. No other mechanical changes necessary, just the "Tribal Enchantment - Illusion Aura" type, in anticipation of other tribal cards that could interact with Illusion spells/permanents.

I don't get why there's so much hate for this card. It's a Blue Arrest. That alone is worth the drawback, as blue otherwise has few other ways of dealing with a nasty threat on the board. It's great for locking things down for a surprisingly long amount of time, and tricks the opponent into wasting resources dealing with it. Blue is all about the mind games, and games don't come any mindier than cards opponents think they can deal with only to find they can't.

I go with both Stray_Dog, Boday1, and StreamHopper that his card is underrated.

This Cage forces your oppoenent to waste mana and spells just to remove them, and when they realise the spells needed in their most crcial moment is gone, they just forfeit the game.

It would be much more effective if it read "target of a spell" instead of spell or ability. More people play equipment than they do creature enchantments. Still, it works for quite some time, and unlike Pacifism, it at least kills the abilities as well. It can certainly buy you a few turns if they don't have equipment sitting around.

I had four of these, three Ponder, three Lifelink, Sun Titan and Mesa Enchantress in my sealed pool at the pre-release. I went undefeated all day.

An underrated card in limited. I always snatch them up if I'm playing blue. You'd be surprised how often it can lock a serious threat down for a couple of turns (sometimes the rest of the game). It's hilarious when an opponent sees ice-cage, smirks, and then realizes that the only targeting he had in his hand is removal.

Sneaky Blue mages... Trolling the format since 1993.

A fun card for kitchen table play.

Mechanically it does exactly what an ice cage would do. It freezes the creature, but can be cracked.

Obviously there are 'stronger' cards, but it's a great feeling breaking out your ice-caged beast to turn back the tables.

Great art but the card will never see constructed play.
If anything it is a disadvantage to have it as you can get caught by surprise, thinking that your are safe.
