I love the fact that drug dealers in MTG make you more powerful.

Mercenary was always the clever cousin to rebels.

I'd give him a 2.5/5. He could be a good finisher in some decks. I use him in a casual infect deck for just such a purpose.

This card sucks badly. 1/5. But the flavor text is good. 1.5/5.

Besides the art being terrible, this is just such a terrible ability. I hated opening this in Masques Block.

Shouldn't cost mana to use the ability and sac a land. Could only be worse if you needed to tap it too.

Close cousin to Cackling Witch, from earlier in the block.
Enables most of your Mercenaries to pull a game-ending Howl From Beyond out of nowhere.

Not as horrid as it looks at first glance. The fact that you can tap those lands before sacrificing them, and that you can use the ability as many times as you can afford per turn, means this can enable sudden pump to push through the last points of damage you need to win. This is particularly relevant in infect decks, which only need 10 damage to win - especially those with double strikers.
