Lets say you have Splinterfright out on Turn 3, and have managed to chump a creature or two into the grave. Turn 4, you mill the optimal 2 creature. If you run Birds, maybe you got the 'Fright out even earlier, and you managed to mill say, 3 creatures and one non-creature by this turn. So you wind up with 4 in the grave, plus the Bird that may or may not have died to removal. You should now have though the 2-3Green to cast this turn 4. A 10/10. It can go toe-to-toe with most Titans, can take a Wurmcoil out with it, and each time one dies, the next one is cheaper. And all the while, we have Gnaw to the Bone to ensure we stay alive, and Mulch to feed the beast. The new Dual Lands ensure that it becomes easy to Splash Black and White for tricks like a Flashed-Back Forbidden Alchemy.
5/5, for so much Johnny-Spike win.

I think this is a card a lot of people have been both overestimating and underestimating.

The people overestimating it fail to consider that it's NOT going to get cast for Green all the time, or even 2Green. There will be situations where this will just sit in your hand, needing 5 or 6 mana to get him on the field. And even when you do, he's just a vanilla 10/10. He can get chumped all day long, and in a meta with a lot of weenies, tokens, and creatures that like to die, that's gonna happen a lot.

As for those underestimating him...dude, it's a 10/10 that can cost as little as Green. Take this to the magical realm of EDH (where improbable plays are the rule as opposed to the exception) and you can have a lot of fun. In a ... (see all)

I want to run this with Karador so badly. I know it won't be that good, but being able to keep casting a 10/10 for G when I have nothing better to do is just so damn appealing.

This is actually the card I want most for this set, since I can't see myself ever paying more than 3Green for it.

The worst thing that can ever happen to your self-milling U/G deck is that your opponent will exile all of your graveyard... it instantly swipes your Splinterfrights, Boneyard Wurms and severly slows your deck down.
This guy stays the same 10/10 all the time, even if your graveyard gets exiled or shuffled... solid card in dedicated decks.

I love this with Fling, Wild Hunger, Unnatural Predation, and Artful Dodge... the bad thing is that it can be removed by a mere Typhoid Rats... but hey... Its fun to play in casual...
