This card would go amazingly in a deck that could flicker it, like with Conjurer's Closet, so that you could play whatever you wanted, and still have mana open at the end of your turn for counter spells.

I'm surprised they reprinted another of these 'free' spells.

It would have been nice to have all the free spells in the modern frame. 'course, I'm not complaining to have this one with the glorious Bob Eggleton dinosaurian drake...

This spell just gets even more juicy when its used in combination with the dual lands... Although it's actually a bit too high-costed for that to always work.

I suppose it was a safe way for Wizards to include a card with this effect without risking excessive mana-ramping.

I'm sorry. It's ugly. It was 'acceptable' in Urza's Saga, but for the Planechase reprint, I wanted it to look more like Modern Drakes, only Epic. With new flavor text hinting at how stupid broken it is. :P

this is quite a good card for blue. if you can play your lands right, with karoo lands and such, you can end up doing a lot more than getting your lands back.

I put this into Intet, the Dreamer EDH for the effect and the art (it is full of savage fatties of the dragon/sphinx/beast variety).

It's fun to play this little guy for free and gain a blocker, then untap five lands and net another fatty in play from my hand. Sometimes he even attacks when Overwhelming Stampede gets thrown down later. But yeah, he's super fun as long as he's not in my opening hand.
