This is the one card from the "mutation" cycle where you don't have a hard time finding good targets, because even bouncing a three-mana creature is nice.. However, you can also make sure that there's something on your side of the board that creates lots of saproling tokens, like Ink-Treader Nephilim or the very obvious Draco! :)

I could see using this on one's own creatures just as often as using it on an opponent's. Mystic Snake or Draining Whelk maybe, or anything with a good "enters the bf" trigger and a decently large mana cost. Or perhaps if your fattie is having trouble with a pacifism-like aura effect.

return all targetable creatures to thier owners hands and put X 1/1 green saprolings into play where X is the combine mana cost of all creatures this way! check it out! (mercy killing gives your oppentnent the tokens but this gives them to you)

Have to say, it was pretty satisfying using three of this card on the Darksteel Colossus that Karn kept tutoring out with his Quicksilver Amulet in Duels of the Planeswalkers 2012. An endgame board position of 2 Mox Sapphires, 2 Quicksilver Amulets and an Icy Manipulator vs. 33 Saprolings and a Kraken Hatchling was a sight to behold. :D
