Therese Nielsen has always been one of the top Magic artists IMO and she shines on green and white cards but her take on black is really something cool and unique.

you're playing a black deck, you should have no problem killing off other creatures before you drop this.

It's not Tragic Slip, cannot be casted early to kill quickly, but neither does it require a creature's death to be effective, and works very well with mill. To be honest, how many tournament level creatures could survive -5/-5, let alone -13/-13?
