For those of us who constantly complained that no one would block our lifelinked Boros Reckoner.

Two minotaur cards in one set? I wouldn't make note of it normally, but with Theros and its clear Hellenic influences coming up, I smell Minotaur tribal (probably red) approaching.

If they have only one creature in play, target it with both abilities. Then it can't do anything because the "Can't block period." overides the "attacks if able"

I love these kind of effects!
Yeah he's a bit overcosted, but so what? If you manage to bring him to the table and keep him there, he's sure to give you some benefits.

All this, and the best Dragon's Maze art I've seen.

How does Boros Battleshaper function if a player and his opponent both have one (or more) on the battlefield? Assuming the attacking player gets priority to what creature can and cannot attack/block, does the opponent's "at the beginning of each combat" ability then trigger and go on top of the stack? Or does the attacking player's start-of-combat ability (after spell counters, etc) have to resolve before the next start-of-combat ability triggers? If the latter is true, that suggest the defending player can't undo the attacking player's choices.

I'm brand new to Wizards and all that, and this is my first posting here, so if I'm not supposed to ask mechanics questions, please let me know.

@Nucleon: I don't see at all how he screws up battalion. You can choose one of your own creatures (which you were planning on attacking with anyway) to "must attack" and one of your opponent's creatures to "can't block". Nothing happens to your battalion triggers at all.

This guy seems pretty underrated. It's really powerful to have even a little influence in EVERY combat phase, particularly in large multiplayer formats like EDH. Teeny utility creatures, no matter who they belong to, will no longer be safe. (Well, except for your own, hehe) While his cost is a pretty heavy setback, that's not much of a problem in EDH, especially for game control of this caliber.

If you don't feel like targeting their only creature with both abilities, then you can choose to target zero creatures as it states "up to one creature".

Amazing card, as stated, miniature master warcraft every combat (not just your own). I would say he could of had vigilance or first strike, but I believe he is still a fair price.

Yay for interesting cards!

With him on the board, you can kill one of your opponent's creatures each combat, if you leave something back as a blocker or play something sizeable after attacking. A miniature recurring Master of Warcraft for each combat phase. Definitely something to be feared in limited, though he might be better splashed into a different guild depending on how fast Boros will still be.
