That drake looks so dejected and sad. "Carryin' another blimmin' message? Uuuuugggghhhhh, fine..."

It's a blue trick. The drake is bigger for more important messages to ensure their delivery. The messenger's death delivers the message.

Gimme two cards. Please? Or an enters-the-battlefield trigger we can abuse with things like Cloudshift

I'd draft it. Blue skies seems like a thing in M14 Limited.

Playable, but a bit meh. Good sky trade, I suppose.

it is not about the CMC or P/T... its about sending a message....

I had a great deal of fun against this guy at the prerelease. Yes, against it.

Thanks to two convenient Time Ebbs and a Disperse, my opponent cast Messenger Drake four turns in a row. Meanwhile my Master of Diversion chipped away at their life total.

Good times.

I like Gryff Vanguard better. More splashable, nets the card right away, can combo with the effect easier by cloudshift. All for a 1 toughness trade.

@Flavour text: That seems counter-intuitive. The larger the messenger is, the more noticeable it is, and the easier it is to just shoot it out of the skies.

Gatherer works better in the Companion app!
