What people seem to forget is that, in any other set, the guildgates would have been uncommon at least. The only reason they were so widely available was because RTR block was looking to promote multicolor interactions and even went out of its way to reward players for playing Gates. Now Theros is anything but a multicolor block. Sure, it has some gold cards and some ways that allied and enemy pairs can interact, but the driving force of the set (and the block, most likely) looks to be monocolor strategies driven by the devotion mechanic. For that reason, these multicolor lands, lame as they may seem, get to be "upgraded" to rare status, since if they were uncommon, they would just take up space in a limited format that is not intended to support or encourage multicolor interactions.

I agree, though. There should have been a way for them to come in untapped.

I love, love, LOVE - the scryland mechanic. This means that even if I draw a hand with just one land and an awesome everything else, I'll be willing to keep, knowing I have twice the chance I had before. Nice job Wizards! - I'm praying in my heart of hearts that either in this set or one forthcoming we'll have one color temples. I really want to make monocolored decks built on devotion, that can participate in the scryland mechanic as well.

RedWhite would feature a dong as their temple.

@deathparallex wrong, it says in arena athlete flavor text his name will be Iroas, god of victory. As for what I think of the card, the scry lands are good. I think the mechanic that will make Iroas a creature will go something like this.

Temple worship- As long as you control three lands that can tap for red and white and control another red white creature, Iroas, God of victory is a creature.

I personally think that it could have had a come into play untapped clause but your opponent gets to fateseal you for 2 instead of you getting to scry.

Yes, they will see play in Standard, but we're not going to like it!!

On the other hand, the NEXT standard might be even more mono-colored, so I'm sure these will fetch a decent price one day.

These are the single most powerful cards in theros, you are complaining about them being rare?
