My multicolor decks are much happier having a less color intensive Grave Pact. Having flash and only affecting my opponents (not my teammates) is well worth one extra mana.

Welcome back to Standard, Grave Pact. Granted, you are not as you once were, but you will certainly suffice in this newer, modified form.

Also, black Commanders now have Grave Pact, Butcher of Malakir, and this. I'm scared.

I can just imagine player A having lethal evasive damage ready to seal the deal and then casting a removal spell on player B's only creature only to have this flashed in response for an epic comeback win.

It's really flavorful that this card can cause Phylactery Lich to die, since Erebos most likely really hates liches (because they don't die like everyone else does).
