I play it in my ghost council of orzhova commander/edh deck.
The format is slow enough that you can easily reach 7 before losing lots of life. And there it provides free chump blockers each turn to stop opponents commanders (even dragons and stuff), fodder for the council or other sac combos, a decent 4/4 body with evasion.
Most other cards in white or black create tokens only at a one-shot effect or want to be contiuously fed with mana.
I'll give it 3.5/5. Though the other version has better art.

I like both artworks of that card, although i like this "oldschool" one a bit more because it has some special Mirrodin flavor.

Yet i also agree on the cost. I wish this card was a six-drop, a tougher flyer, or would trigger on each upkeep. Compare her to Emeria Angel, Verdant Force or Rampaging Baloths and i guess you'll agree that at least with a triple-white cost this card should have been more than it is.

The thing people tend to forget about this type of card is how easy it can be to get that much mana, or how easy it is to just get it onto the field.

Look at alternative ways to get it on the field such as summoners egg (5th dawn I believe) or in mixed blocks look at things like elvish piper.

then take that token generation they are flying 1/1 tokens, match it with things like paradox haze to get multiple in one turn, an endless suply of 1/1 fliers is unimaginably helpful

Yeah, it nabs you a token once every one of your upkeeps...but it's 7 mana for a 4/4 flyer. At that cost it should be something to impress the kid in all of us who just loves a ridiculous big creature (e.g. Verdant Force). But as is, this 7 cost creature is amazingly unimpressive.

7 costed cards should be something amazing, but this card isn't.

amazingly unimpressive? this monster doesn't just create 1/1 tokens, they can also fly and they're spirits, considering this, this creature can potentially break an opponent. it's huge cost does indeed leave something to be desired, but the effective nature of it's token creation is often lost to the adverage mind.

Why is this in Mirrodin? It seems very Kamigawa or Ravnica, not really metallic. Anyway, ok in EDH/Commander, bad everywhere else, 2/5

Over priced Jank.
its basicly a 4/4 flyer for four, and 3 for specteral procession but that late in the game i want the price to be melded.
il'd play it if it was 6 and came out with 3 1/1 flyers....
a sort of captain of the watch variant, being that the angel doesnt have vigilence and the 1/1's fly but dont become 2/2's
