I'd take Mycosynth Lattice , Darksteel Forge, and a creature with this beating face. I like Nevinyrral's Disk more for the destruction purpose, but this is fine too, and it hits walkers, which is just icing.

How do I manage to make this not handicap myself as well?

This is gonna be a pain in the ass with cards like Quest for the Holy Relic, Puresteel Paladin, and Brass Squire.. Will we ever see the end of those hawks?
