@greatwulf, it's not deathtouch. a creature needs to have dealt damage to another creature (even if it wasn't equipped at the time), and the scythe needs to be equipped to the first creature before the second is sent to the graveyard. example:

your 1/4 turtle (not equipped) attacks, and is blocked by your opponent's 2/2 rat. during your second main phase, you equip the scythe to your turtle, and cast some kind of effect that would cause the rat to be sent to the graveyard. the rat would then come into play under your control, and the scythe would equip itself to the rat.

@tercuis, a 3/3 (without first strike or double strike) with the scythe is a 5/5, blocked by keiga, a 5/5. both creatures would be dealt lethal damage and both be sent to the graveyard. keiga's effect would have no target, and is still being sent to the graveyard after being dealt damage by the equipped creature. therefore, you get control of keiga.

Ashling the pilgrim, FTW =)

@Tercuis: I'm no rules judge, so this is probably wrong =)

But I THINK:

They trade in combat, then since you are the active player, your ability triggers, then keiga's does. His ability has no targets, so it fizzles. However, you ability will return keiga after his resolves. I'm pretty certain Keiga is yours. But don't quote me...

Okay, I had this equipped to a 3/3 with no other creatures on the field, I attacked my opponent, and he blocked with Kiega the Tide Star. Needless to say there was an hour long debate over whether or not I got Kiega. What should have happened?

Alright stupid combo time. Scythe of the Wretched equipped to Bloodshot Trainee or Kamahl, Pit Fighter targeting a 1/1 weenie of yours equipped with Deathrender. Deathrender's effect goes off and you can put any big creature of choice into play. Yes I know its complicated, but its fun.

I like stacking up the +1/+1s on my Ashling, the Pilgrim, or Jaya Ballard, Task Mage for those of you that don't like waiting, and pop it to kill everything and then have everything come back into play under my control, noted I had to call wizards help in the middle of a game to get my opponent to beleive that Ashling not only survived her own detonation, but came back with an army of his creatures.

Death Baron+Deathbringer Thoctar+Scythe of the Wretched. Also allows you to protect your own creatures from removal by killing them off and bringing them back.

Query:
Does its ability mean it has Death Touch, or does it just mean the creature has to die and of been dealt damage by the scythe this turn?

OK, dumb question time: if the creature dealt damage to and graveyarded a bunch of creatures (let's say the equipped creature was also enchanted by Lure,Beastmaster's Magemark, and Venom), then do you get all of those creatures? Which one would get the scythe? Do you pick?
