Free spells are great with epic draw engines like Skullclamp and Necropotence. Don't have the mana? Don't worry, you won't have to have dead weight.

It DOES remind me of Gyo, now that you mention it...
Also, rocks in Demon Tribal. Once spliced Horobi's Wail onto it for killing two creatures on my opponent's turn with all my lands tapped out. That upset him.
