Regeneration doesn't target the creature it's affecting, so Angelic Protector will have to sit this one out....

Try it on Vebulid, instead.

Regenerate does not TAP the creature. When you "regenerate" a creature they receive a regeneration shield. If the creature dies it taps and all damage is removed, otherwise the creature will not tap.

Free regenerate is worth 1 life per turn, but not necessarily the initial 3 mana investment. Still, this card is playable, especially in slower formats, like EDH.

Yes, I have learned my previous mistakes about sacrifice and regeneration effects. Since my last post, I have played more and learned a lot. I understand that the primary focus of this enchantment is to keep combo piece or win-con creatures alive, such as Blood Artist, deathbringer thoctar, or Lord of Lineage.

Anyway, let me make it up to everyone by providing better ideas for Blessing of Leeches.

Blessing of Leeches + one of the following...

High Priest of Penance = either unblockable 2 damage or one of the opponents permanents gets destroyed and you keep your creature =). Works well with Prey Upon

Saber Ants = lots of tokens on the field. Works best when you block with the ants, and then flash in Blessing of Leeches to preserve the ants while still getting your tokens =)

sacrifice does not equal destruction or lethal damage... regeneration fail =P
