Works better in EDH where everything is a 1-of, although 8 damage isnt much

While a card that combos well with this one sees regular tournament play, this one will definitely not. The card is Jester's Cap, by the way. 6 CMC for such an unreliable effect is way, way too much.

Sadistic Sacrament to look through and get rid of some cards in their deck.
Or Jester's Cap if you dislike the BlackBlackBlack cost.

I can see this only being somewhat effective in singleton formats. But there's better things to be doing with 6 mana in red. Good point Andon, I can't think of anything else off the top of my head that lets you look at their entire library. Seems like there could be some use for that somewhere...

I like how they gave this card a tournament constructed ability and then gave it a cost to make it virtually unplayable competitively.

5Red should just give you 8 damage, no?
We have sorin's vengeance now, 2 more damage and 10 life for 1 more cmc.
