Because everyone wants to know the full number of having a kicked rite of replication played with the 11 out from the last one:

You'd get 10240 which would give you 10251 in all ultimately giving you 136957046165759112846419910638694133425420977365386179580714741372748756744105182162694093073

Rite of Replication + Opalescence + Doubling Season.

Kick the Rite targeting the Season. You put 10 Doubling Season tokens into play, each as a 5/5 creature. Now that you have 11 doubling seasons, any card that makes tokens or uses counters suddenly does 2048x what it used to do.

Say that you then cast another Rite, producing an additional 10240 Doubling Seasons. This means everything from then on is multiplied by 2^10251, which is around 7*10^3085, or a 7 followed by 3085 zeros. Then, say you play a Khalni Garden. I'm pretty sure this causes the universe to fill with plant tokens, which causes it to condense under its own mass. Congrats, you just started the next Big Bang!

MrBarrelRoll - "Say that you then cast another Rite, producing an additional 10240 Doubling Seasons. This means everything from then on is multiplied by 2^10251, which is around 7*10^3085, or a 7 followed by 3085 zeros."

Now just imagine that before doing this step, you played a Precursor Golem and a Xenograft (calling Golem). So the first Rite to resolve gives you 10,240 Doubling Seasons, then the next gives you 5* 2^10251 Doubling Seasons. The next makes 5 * 2^(5 * 2^10251 + 10,251). Then reiterate for the next 8 Rites.

I'm a MATH MINOR and I have no idea how many that would give you, but it's a lot bigger than the number of particles in the universe (estimated no higher than a googol, or 10^100). Hell, the SECOND COPY beats that number.

A couple of corrections: first, as to the case of having more than one in play at once, Wizards has already provided a ruling for this:
10/1/2005 If there are two Doubling Seasons on the battlefield, then the number of tokens or counters is four times the original number. If there are three on the battlefield, then the number of tokens or counters is eight times the original number.
The reason behind this, I believe, is that while the abilities TRY to happen simultaneously, they have to use the stack so one will go first. Once that happens, the second one will now be modifying a new number, and there's no reason it wouldn't update to double the new amount instead. Second, I believe the ruling with planeswalkers is that they'll come into play with twice the number of counters with a Season in play, but that their abilities that add counters are unaffected. This is because the addition of a counter is the COST of the ability, and Doubling Season only triggers if an EFFECT would place a... (see all)

I'm with the people who rage at seeing this card mentioned everywhere, so let's just haul out the list and be done with it.

I can't paste actual URLs in here without them getting messed up by the formatter, so here are a couple of simple searches you can run if you want to find just about every card this works well with:
1. Include "token". Exclude "nontoken".
2. Include "counter". Exclude "spell", "countered", and "suspend". (And possibly a few others based on your taste, like "cumulative upkeep" and such.)

These cards do not need to be cross-referenced back to this one. You get more tokens/counters, we get it. I would not call this sort of thing a combo because this effect is no more or less than exactly what this card does.

I'm willing to consider things to be combos if you can get an effect with this that you normally couldn't. For example, any creature + Splinter Twin + this = you get two copies and only have to exile one of them.

Doubling Season and planeswalkers in general... annoying. Out of 16 current walkers, only 4 can't go ultimate on the first turn with a single Doubling Season out (Ajani Vengeant, Nissa and both Jaces). For some this is especially game changing; Elspeth makes most of your permanents indestructible for 4 mana; Sarkhan Vol puts out 20 points of power for 4 mana; Chandra Nalaar does 10 damage to an opponent and each creature they control for 5 mana. Let's not even mention Nicol Bolas... >.<

This card screams "Reprint Me." Casual players want this so bad, and most of those are the exact type that won't pay $20 for a single card. At least if you need it in your Ghave, Guru of Spores Commander deck, you only need one, but if you're not playing singleton, you're going to prefer 2-3 to ensure you get it out when you want it.
