Bloodthirst X gives this guy crazy potential in terms of power and toughness. Give him trample and he's ready to rock.

Also, being the sole bearer of "protection from instants" is cool.

Thanks to the new Rakdos, Lord of Riots, even this chump is playable... if you don't mind splashing green, anyway.

He IS uncounterable, but you can still Mindbreak Trap him off of the stack, and seeing as his bloodthirst triggers more on increased damage, he is more likely to not be the first spell in the turn.

Still, pro-instants is unbearably cool. I would have preferred a cheaper card to showcase the ability and no bloodthirst, but that's me. As it stands, this is the epitome of a win-more card.

I wonder whether, in a multiplayer game, this guy would see the damage done to an opponent who died this turn. I fireball an opponent for 15, killing him. Does this get 15 counters, or none because the opponent is dead? I also wonder why Wizards hasn't ruled on this pretty obvious question..

I hadn't realized that Cryptborn Horror had a daddy!

Important differences being that this guy has protection and uncounterability (among 4 CMC more) but only counts *damage*.

Protection from instants! That's SO cool! And it's so green! I would love to see green using flash and the manipulation of other players' instants in order to strengthen green control.

@ mode: it is defining X in the reminder text. basically if an opponent tokk damage this turn it gets that many counters.
the bloodthirst ability still is the regular one.

whoa i never saw the protection from instants before. this might just be the blue mage's worst nightmare.

Yeah Mode, this Bloodthirst ability isn't exactly the same as the others; I found that a little bizarre too. Still, I think it's more flavorful and really cool that he gets to be so unique, and as a bonus be uncounterable AND have protection from instants.

very good. I'm slightly bothered by what appears to be a change in Bloodthirst's definition, but still a bomb-tastic card.
