This card is one of the key pieces in my Malfegor EDH deck, for obvious reasons. And I honestly don't get why people are so in a dither about the fact that the Anthem doubles the damage it deals to you. Taking 2 damage per attacker is nothing compared with the massive hurt you'll be laying on your opponent. If you're playing a hellbent deck, you should have a few Dread Slags in there. As long as you're hellbent and you have the Anthem and the Slag in play, you've got a five-mana trampler that swings for 22 damage. That swing will do 2 damage to you, for sure, but who cares if your opponent is taking eleven times that much? To me, this is the king of all hellbent cards.

The main catch is if your opponent gets your life low enough you wont be able to attack without killing yourself.

@ klauth: In a hellbent deck, you do not want that card draw. One of the most annoying things about playing blue with a hellbent deck is being targeted by their draw spells. Completely nerfs your whole power level.
@ terjack: 4x. Check out the ruling for Quest for Pure Flame.
@ Kryptnyt: Well I feel like a noob. I'm putting together a creature-heavy hellbent deck, and it didn't even occur to me that the enchantment's damage would double too. Definitely swapping this out for a fourth Demonfire...or maybe a second Gloomdrifter.

This triggers everytime you attack, so getting additional combat phases will boost the creature even more (at the cost of extra damage)
