Back in the early days of Magic, it was the conventional wisdom that one of these belonged in every deck. It gets you another use of all your cards - in theory, at least. Then we all got better, and learned that those ideas were misguided. If you simply build a deck that wins with the sixty cards it contains, there's no need for Feldon's Cane. This card really does nothing well.

As for mill: if you absolutely have to play something against them, just use Gaea's Blessing or an Eldrazi legend.

@Scumbling: You're wrong. This card did exactly as advertised and WAS that good. the new retarded cousins of this card and new keywords have made this card less than what it was. FC is just another victim of powe-rcreep, otherwise you'd still be playing these like your game depended on it.

Between libary depleation getting better and better, and black able to use any graveyard as a resource, this has become an almost essential defensive card. Hopefuly 2011 will reprint it.

Don't hold your breath on it being in a core set now, they don't print cards that refrerence old magic characters and places anymore, except when they just make up new places like for xathrid demon.
Maybe they will reprint it, slap a different name on it and call it new.

It perfect anti mill, it can be played in any deck and is only 1 mana. Nice card to have lying around.

Hmm... This is decent, but I prefer Elixir of Immortality. Not as cheap, but it goes into your library too.

I say it's usually better than Elixir of Immortality, with the Cane there's no need to leave mana open in case your opponent drops a Bojuka Bog or Tormod's Crypt. Sure Elixir is repeatable, but the odds of both drawing it and needing it more than once a game are low.

I use this as a back-up plan for a combo in my Dimir mill deck. I try to use Enter the Infinite, then cast this on my next turn. On my opponent's turn (after the hand limit is enforced) I cast Psychic Spiral to mill them for a retarded number of cards. If they somehow prevent me from casting Psychic Spiral or force me to draw a card early enough, I can pay to use Feldon's Cane to keep me alive. Its epic! 5/5
