I Really Like This Liege Due To The Art And Red Green Is Fun To Play Especially With Spellbreaker Out And All

I dislike this liege.. in almost every possible way. :/ For starters, I'm tired of seeing so many goblins. Secondly, its a 3/4 for 4 mana which isn't to amazing and it has no auxiliary special abilities that make me think that mana cost is worth it, 3 is much more reasonable. Thirdly, its special ability is trample.. on a 3 power attacker? At most you get like what 1 damage across from your trample, thats a bad keyword for such a low power creature. Double strike would have been much more appropriate as would first strike, and make it look that much more impressive. I would have settled for putting tokens into play when it dies, or generating mana as well. The frustrating part of it all is I play lots of red and green, and would have preferred the red/green liege to do something worth mentioning, instead I play balefire, because once I get that thing out I'm gaining life and doing damage left and right just for playing spells normally. Creakwood liege is also awesome, free 3/3 ... (see all)

"Warrior" might be a better tribe based on its colours, but having these lieges all be knights seems like a conscious flavour decision. They're all riding creatures, so they would all qualify - I think that giving red or green the odd knight here and there makes an interesting exception to a general rule (of warriors).

Shadowmoor made the boggarts so savage! If the boar leads him to victory, they're gonna eat him? Harsh, goblin. Harsh.

Liege makes so much more sense to be a knight than a warrior from a flavor standpoint, anyway. Complaining that a creature doesn't conform to the tribal aspect you want is just sour grapes. That's like saying "Man, if only Baneslayer Angel were a zombie, then it would be better because it would work awesome with my Death Baron!"

@Bensted
Lol yea. Gotta love caps though.

Idk if this card is power creep but 4 mana for a 3/4 trampler that makes all your other green and red creatures fatter? Nothing to complain about.

Boartusk is good card. Maybe not the best of the lieges, but he is the true to his colors. Now, is he good enough for a rare? In my opinion, yes... because his toughness is only matched by the Wilt-leaf Liege, liegewise, at that mana cost. To those who complain that the extra point in toughness isn't that good, let me tell you, that extra point glued my Stonebrow deck together. Because of the swan decks that were standard at the time, creatures I had out got hit withSulfurous Blasts & Firespouts almost every turn. Given that he doesn't have the surprise factor of the Thistledown Liege or the discard into play of Wilt-leaf Liege, it seems odd that he just has trample. If Wizards gave him another ability, he would be unbalanced with the rest of the leiges in the set. If they made him a 4/3 he would die way too easily. If he was a 5/4 he would be overpowered. As a 3/4 he's balanced. If you know how to... (see all)

The collection of Liege cards from Lorwyn/Shadowmoor are all extremely good, even if some, like this guy, don't have a whole lot going for them ability-wise. Really though, you don't want to attack with them as much as you just want them on the field so your critters get more powerful. That extra +2/+2 can be enough to change a game easily, especially in a R/G beatdown deck.

In short, when playing two-color decks, make room for your respective Liege. 'Nuf said.
