I give this only 2 stars for the following reasons. First, yes, a 2/2 first striker for 3 is good, but it doens' mesh with his ability. He's not attacking if you want to use his ability, which turns him into a non-issue in combat if you want to keep the ability open. Second, he gives attacking creatures first strike, instead of your creatures. That is much less useful on defense.
He's just not that good. Maybe in a team game like 2HG or that weird 3 vs 1 thing they are pushing, but I'm not impressed by him 1-on-1.

It's not bad, though I would prefer Bloodmark Mentor in most situations.
