I got a promo version of this guy from a DCI judge at an anime con, since then, he's been ebony to Soul Foundry's ivory. Love the flavour of any creature breaking off into tiny creatures and personally, I'd give this gy 5/5 just for continued usefulness.

What a perfect card. Flavor, mechanics, and playability all swirl together in a glorious smoothie of victory.

Stay thirsty, my friends.

I like sprouting thrinax a lot for anti removal, and chump blockers. Of course, if thrinax gets blocked and killed a simple pyroclasm will kill the saprolings. It's maybe not the most amazing creature I've ever seen, but its best for its utility, in which there are many combos. Obviously any card that gives a buff to every creature you control only makes the three saprolings all the better. Cards that trigger when a creature enters play also activate three times when the thrinax dies. Creakwood liege seems like a good choice, your thrinax becomes 5/5, and it creates its own tokens, then the saprolings come into play as 2/2.

@ arachi.. its not a plant, its a lizard that sprouts saprolings that you can see on its back, aka the lizard adapted.

The flavor text is kinda stupid. Plants have adapted to being eaten. It's called fruit.

But this card is truly awesome and a must-have for Jund decks!
