terrible card in sealed and draft for this format

really, no lands at all in reborn and shards only has 5, throw in a couple more in conflux but still

only for standard and really only against those 5cc

An average card, probably better to sideboard this one for 5 color decks. The unearth cost however is ridiculously stupid.

I'm not totally sold on this guy being playable in Constructed. Just seems like one of those cards that is too situational too often. Yeah, unearth is still too expensive.

so this is our excuse for land destruction now. Damage is a nice alternative with some win con built in, but tempo is what ld should be about. guess wizards is trying to protect those ridiculous fragile mana bases we have right now where real ld would screw everything up. guess we cant have two genuine fulminator mages at once. not playable at this unearth cost. i think unearth in general could have been a little cheaper across the board.

This card will be much better when the new lands from the 11th edition will be outhere in everybody's deck... Right now, it is at best a sideboard 5cc killer.

This set hasn't been kind to unearth costs. To be fair, we're getting more for what we pay in special effects. You would never unearth this guy to attack with him.

I agree that its pretty bad in Sealed or Draft, but can deal a pretty consistent amount of damage in any other format. Not a lot of people expecting it.

This is an excellent combo card, provided you play it carefully. Several combos with Anathemancer include, but are not limited to Deny Reality to Anathemancer, Singe-Mind with Anathemancer, and Bituminous Blast to Anathemancer. Cascading from a Deny Reality or Bituminous Blast gives you the opportunity to deal between 3-5 damage to them, if played properly, Playing the Singe Mind and the Anathemancer together give you the ability to possibly double digit your damage done in one turn, giving you the opportunity to use the Knollrock Spine hide-a-land.

Wait a a while to use it. What until your opponent has nonbasic creatures on the battlefield. Otherwise, it's pretty useless.
