Which is better: This, or Reckless Scholar?

nice card, although a version without the discard part would have been better for M10, seeing that all the new cards are generally better than what we would see a couple years ago, even the commons.

Personally, I prefer merfolk who does not have legs. Yes, it is much more practical from a thematic point of view to let them walk around, but it doesn't quite get the 'fish-person' feeling across. I my opinion, if they want to portray a blue tribe who can stride around on dry land without any problems, they should rather use vedalkens.

Very good draw engine for a mere two mana.

The secret lies in the creature type: As opposed to other functional reprints, Merfolk Looter gains bonuses from the Merfolk lords, which means that it can also take on an offensive role in the Merfolk deck once you've got the Lords you were looking for.
