This card is highly hated by my friends. 5 mana, often played turn 6 or 7 (5 if I'm lucky), half of library in the trash. Unfortunately, use of this card in combination with Tome Scour leaves inexplicable bruises...

This card with Panoptic Mirror equals out to around a 5-6 turn game.

forget milling! play with a heavy deck, like 200 cards or something, throw in some tutors, 4 of these puppies, and All Hallow's Eve . You now have 100ish cards on the field on your 5th turn.

Fairly nice for milling. Traumatize + Nemesis of Reason x2 or so can have an opponents deck GONE very quickly.

A good card, essential in any mill deck.
A pity that with a big deck you are less likely to draw it.
Lucky for everyone that you can't use it on yourself to get Darksteel Colossus out with Open the Vaults.

For what it does, this card is WAY too cheap. Your opponent loses half his deck for 3BB? That is ridiculous! The only people that love this card are those that can't manage the strategy of combat enough to play a real game rather than grind their opponent with cheating blue cards. It should cost at LEAST 6BB, in my opinion.

That being said, I almost wet myself with giddiness when an opponent dropped this on me when I was playing a graveyard "rat" deck. I had Living Death in my hand, cast it the next turn and had 12 creatures on the board, including a Spirit of the Night and 2 Sengir vampires while he had a couple of drakes and a sage owl. He actually killed himself by Traumatizing me when he had me on the ropes by countering a few of my early dark rituals and keeping my rats home with some walls and drakes. If he had waited it out he would have taken me down with that annoying phantom warrior that I could not block. That was a classic. He hates the Spirit of the Night to this day. ... (see all)
