Has a little Kerrigan, Queen of Blades thing goin' on here. (From the first legendary StarCraft, not it's sub-par sequel).

Man that's some junk. A 2/2 for 3 is horrible these days. And "discard two and get a wimpy 2/2 for 5" is bad too. It's somewhat like abyssal horror. If you want to make your opponent discard two cards, then the horror does the same but has flying for one more mana. The big difference though: if you flicker the horror, or zombify it, or copy it or anything else, it's ability triggers and makes your opponent discard another two. That doesn't work with this vampire.
That said, abyssal horror is still bad, as is this dude.

Seems like a decent sideboard card for Vampires. I feel like Mind Sludge is a better card though.

Forget Megrim, use Bloodchief Ascension (or both).

I don't like the card. Blightning is fine, because cmc 3 makes a fine card for a double discard effect, if you gain an additional bonus. As would a cmc 4 card with triple discard. A cmc 4 creature with disard 1 is stupid and it doesn't get better, if you multikicker. Even Raveneous Rats should have been cmc1 creatures with a dying effect instead of a cip/etb effect.

Too expensive to be usable in a vampire deck. if it's base cost was 2 it might be there, but it's just not fast enough. Much better to use Mind sludge for 5. you'll probably get at least 4 cards from their hand. for the same cost with this thing you only get 2.

A lot of people think discard is dead if it occurs at T4 or later. If you ramped at all and you're in a serious match, you may well get the chance for a 3-for-1 at 5 mana, if you do, take it! If you don't? Who cares? you have a 2/2 still.

2/1s and 2/2s with abilities win games. Any kind of control deck will hate it when you drop him; or a deck that missed it's curve a bit. It's also non-dead discard; which I'm really starting to appreciate. If your discard deck isn't about pure tempo, then non-dead discard is highly important.

Still mindstab thrull is, IMO, quite superior. The ability to drop him for 3 and still cause 3 discard later is hot; but they work in different decks. I'll try this guy sometime in G/B. Any kind of ramp can turn this guy into a color-light mind shatter.
