This is pretty easily the best red common in the set, and arguably the best of all red cards. I'd say it's a strong contender for top 10 cards in this set.
4 damage for 3 mana is considered good. 6 damage for 2 mana is a bargain, even if you need landfall.

Mattmedia:
WELL, when you direct damage at a player, you can then turn the damage toward any Planeswalker they control (I know it's in the rulebook, had someone explain it to me...just forget the actual rule); it works the same way that you can attack a Planeswalker with creatures, rather than just the player controlling that Planeswalker.
Otherwise, this can hit for 3 each on an opponent's turn; Terramorphic Expanse, Evolving Wilds, both the allied fetchlands of Onslaught and enemy fetchlands of the Zendikar set, as well as any spell or ability on a permanent that lets you put a land into play at instant speed, i.e. Walking Atlas (Which you mentioned yourself, surprisingly), Burgeoning, and other like them, you can put a land into play on another player's turn, thereby meeting the landfall requirements.
I take it you've started playing only recently, then? Welcome to Magic. I hope the game co... (see all)

This is, perhaps, the best common in the set, as well as it should be. 6 damage for 2 mana? Thats like, a double Lightning Bolt? And fetch lands enables it at the opponents turns? Sign me in,

I believe it was a wrong choice for Searing Blaze to have two seperate targets. I had to explain to my aunt about why she couldn't fizzle the 3 damage to the player by sacrificing the creature, like she did with my Tendrils of Corruption. I ended up feeling like a cheater, and I can see she was probably thinking she's never gonna figure out the rules again.
Consistency, Wizards.
This should have been worded "This deals 3 to target creature and 3 to its controller."

A common. So why is Caustic Crawler uncommon? This card is an automatic 2x3 with fetchlands, even during an opponent's turn!!! R&D might means Ramdom-&-Dumb.

Do you have to hit a creature AND and player? What if your opponents has no creatures out there?

I was on the fence about this thing, but Jacob Van Lunen (of Building on a Budget) just made me realize how fantastic it is. You can hit a creature and a Planeswalker with this thing.
Three damage to the opponent isn't much to me considering the amount of creatures I put in my red decks, but another option for Planeswalkers is always welcome in my arsenal. So often I'll need to swing with way too many creatures to assure I can hit the Planeswalker, and I'll need the bolt for combat tricks. Definitely getting another playset.

gets my vote for best common in worldwake, limited or otherwise. simply great. too bad the rest of the red commons are largely useless in comparison. My prediction: Red = easily the worst color in worldwake for limited.
