Ok card, but the artwork is amazing imo. I love the colors in it.

@Tiggaplease
darkslick drake is far superior!
Also, Lumengrid drake will go very late most of the time. Darkslick will be taken sooner and people will see it as a signal that blue is open. So even if metalcraft is no problem, if you are blue, darkslick is totally the pick! Unless you are 3 colors.

@Gelzo: Actually, I think that Darkslick Drake is strictly better than Fighting Drake. Why? Because given everything else unchanged (even creature type), this card let you draw a card when is put into your graveyard.

Sure you will die if your library is empty, but this is a corner-case scenario and in the definition of "strictly better" corner-case scenario aren't contemplated. In fact, the definition of "strictly better" is: comparing two cards, a card is strictly better than the other if it has some better values than the other, given the rest unchanged.
Moreover, you can't consider every possible case, beacuse are too much, and you can find always a case where card A is better than card B, and another case where card B is better than card A. So the "strictly better" concept shouldn't exist...

The card is playable, but surely not tournament-level. However in limited and casual it could see some play... I would give it 3.5, but actually I'... (see all)

Sorry to be ***, but it isn't strictly better than a Fighting Drake since you're forced to draw the card when it dies and in some cases it could mill you for the loss.

Also, it isn't really a cantrip, or as good as one, since you can't draw your card as soon as you play it and you might not even get the card if you can't get it to the grave. Even if you could, you won't be able to have your drake and eat it too, so to speak.

''Almost a stricktly better Kingfisher''

Cards are not stricktly better, they are situational.

Darkslick Drake vs Lumengrid Drake in booster drafts: which is better? Drafting blue, I get caught between the two.

Needs a touch more flavor. Another creature type? Slightly less subtle flavor text? I don't know, something.
