RANDOM CARD REVIEW - 12-13-12
Many comparisons can be made between cards like Arrest and cards like Oblivion Ring. On the one hand, Pacifism effects don't actually get rid of a creature; they merely make it useless in combat. On the other hand, if an Arrest is destroyed, that's all that happens; their guy can attack and block again. If an Oblivion Ring is destroyed, however, any of the creature's "enter-the-battlefield" triggers will go off, and the frequency of those triggers is cause for concern. Either card is a good means of removal, but each type has its limitations as well.
On the whole, however, the main draw of cards like Arrest is the fact that they are some of W's most effective removal spells, especially in a limited format. Arrest in particular shines because of its ability to shut down activated abilities. While its cost may not make it feasible in Standard, making a big, annoying creature useless for your opponent is quite satisfying. They may still be able to us... (see all)
