Demonic_Angel13: What does Doubling Season have to do with anything?

Beacon of Immortality is more useful than Celestial Mantle. Celestial Mantle has a 3-white mana requirement in its casting cost, which puts this practically in a mono-white deck. If the creature is eliminated, Celestial Mantle is lost as well.

Beacon of Immortality is easier to splash in a multi-color deck. If it successfully resolves, it goes back into your library.

My friend used this to double his life total a few times, and then I played Sorin Markov.

I lowered his life total to 10 and then swung for game. It was fun.

Good in theory, but being an enchantment instantly greatly decreases its value. If it stays in play and you manage to trigger it though, you can combo it with a great deal of other cards. In standard alone, there're cards like Ajani Goldmane (in regards to his avatar creature), Cradle of Vitality, Sanguine Bond, and of course, Felidar Sovereign.

I wouldn't mind trying it in limited where there's much less chance of the creature being killed.

Wow, a Beacon of Immortality on steroids. And for practically the same converted mana cost! What more could a life-gain deck ask for???

Yes, this does count as life gain. Anything that sets your life to a certain amount means you gain/lose life to reach that point. Doubling your life means gaining life equal to your current total, so Sanguine Bond and Boon Reflection should work with this.

@madformedusa
Nothing that starts with "Flash + Protean Hulk" is a 'good' casual combo. Broken? Yes. Good? Never.

If you get this in a draft, there are a few cards you can use that will significantly increase your amount of unblocked attacks. Surrakar Marauder (B Landfall-Intimidate), Cliff Threader (R Mountainwalk), River Boa (G Islandwalk Regenerate), Baloth Woodcrasher (G Landfall-Trample), Nimbus Wings (W Aura-Flying). Also try and get some Narrow Escapes so you can pull it back to your hand if you're going to lose the creature.
