"Kobolds are a red creature" priceless. 5/5 just for that.

Ornithopter outclasses this in my books, since ornithopter has better toughness and overall is much more abusable as a {0} cost artifact creature with flying as well.

Okay I understand that this card helps facilitate certain deck options, but it is in no way a 4/5.

This is actually better than 0-cost artifacts for a number of reasons, the biggest one being Cloudstone Curio. Two kobolds and the curio make easy Storm fuel. Ornithopter and company work in a greater number of decks, true, but this has its uses. And the fact that it's a kobold makes it far cooler.
Now I'm just looking forward to the free 1/1 Green creature...

@ Arachnos

Then it's not strictly worse.

A card that is strictly worse is one that is identical to another card, but is worse by just 1 aspect. For example, Scathe Zombies is strictly worse than Walking Corpse, because although they're both 2/2 Black Zombies, Scathe Zombies costs 2Black while Walking Corpse costs 1Black.

A common example of a "strictly better" argument is Fugitive Wizard and Memnite. Sure, Fugitive Wizard costs Blue while Memnite costs 0, but what if you had Azami, Lady of Scrolls on the field? You'd then have a 1-cost Archivist instead.
What if you played Mass Appeal? Memnite wouldn't draw you that extra card. What if you played Kessig Macontents? Memnite wouldn't add 1 more damage to the spel... (see all)

Strictly worse than Ornithopter, Phyrexian Walker and Memnite. Unless you consider being red or being a kobold as an advantage for some reason.

Wait... "epitaph"? How did that Bearand get killed by a 0/1?
