It could definately help a white/equipment deck with Puresteel Paladin, Stoneforge Mystic and Quest for the Holy Relic to reach Metlcraft.

I like transmogrifying licid more. Unlike this card, it can attack and block when I have no other creatures, has a cheaper activation cost, can be activated at instant speed, and also works on creatures of teammates or opponents.

This cards soul purpose is to fuel metalcraft, which when done right, can be abused.
So if the down side is that you must fear artifact removal...then so be it. No diff than
fearing red/black/white removal in any other creature agro deck.
