I actually really like this guy in my soldier EDH deck. Sure, Hero of Bladehold is better, but I need all the battle-cry I can get. He usually only costs one-two less thanks to Ballyrush Banneret or Daru Warchief and he's a decent body. Plus, he gets all the soldier buffs unlike the Hero. Vigilant buffed battle cry with first strike is nothing to shake a fist at, especially with that decent body.

He's playable, I suppose. Could have been a 4/4 or 3/5, though. Probably needs tokens to really be worth playing as he is now, I think.

Below the curve but on a very admirable creature type and supports the tribe well! I think the Warchief is enough to justify him turn 4 (if you have any acceleration )
