You guys are all haters. The weird thing is, this card actually helps. It cycles, and we're in a format where every life counts.

Believe it or not this card actually won a key match for an opponent of mine during an AVR limited tournament. It killed off my Silverblade Paladin being blocked by a 2/2 dork. I won't lie, I got mad. Mostly because it felt like this card had no right to actually be useful.

Hey, people will spend 1Blue on Think Twice... how about Blue on Think Once? 4.5/5

I don't understand how people rate this lower than Think Twice. It costs less, has an additional effect, and, oh yeah, COSTS LESS.
Only difference is that TT has flashback. And for that cost, you might as well play Divination. Yeah, you lose the instant speed, but it's a lot more cards, which completely offsets the "downside".
Some people...

This card can be good in the early game, while people are still playing weak creatures. It can defend you AND net you a free card draw for 1 mana. It is balanced but strong, unlike the better Ancestral Recall or Dark Ritual cards which are overpowered for their costs.

The only problem is that to have this card reliably in your opening or early hand, you'd have to pack at least 3 or even 4 slots for it. And at that point, I hate to say it but there are better cards that could occupy those slots.

I still think this card has potential, especially in Pauper, but due to the above reason I won't be including it in my Standard deck.

Personally, I have never thought that this card was as bad as people make out. Yes, the -1/-0 is not game-shattering, but it can make some small difference in the early game, and late game it's essentially cycling for U (because who in their right mind would worry enough late game to try and counter this?).

3/5

This sounds and feels like a low-level spell you'd learn in the Elder Scrolls series.

@Ferlord: Yes, I totally agree. I also think with level up, quest counters in Zendikar block, and this and dual casting, wizards seems to be trying to capture a more rpg-type feel to magic lately, at least in Limited. Also, I like this card, mostly for flavor reasons, but it also isn't as bad as people say it is and imo could see a little play as better cantrips rotate. Also, one more card for Precursor Golem to enjoy.
