20 damage? All right, but if we can choose the perfect hand, let's think outside the box. Here's infinite damage turn 1:

exiled Simian Spirit Guide->Rite of Flame->Rite of Flame->Seething Song (or a 3rd Rite). You now have at least Red

Now play Seat of the Synod, tap it for Blue

, sac it to Kuldotha Rebirth, and Mass Polymorph with only three creature cards in your deck: Quillspike, Devoted Druid, and Flame-kin Zealot.

Attack for as much damage as you like.

@ DarthParallax. Geosurge's mana can only be used to pay for creatures and artifacts. So it card ramp into Dragonstorm.

Banned in modern? Why? Yeah it's a great card, but it's not tearing up the format or anything. They should have banned the storm cards that this was being used with instead.

My use for this is apparently mundane. (and if the rest of the ideas here are any indicator, WAY to practical)
T1: mountain, ANY 1cmc goblin
T2: mountain, Mogg Maniac
T3: mountain, Seething Song, Furnace of Rath,
T3 (cont) Goblin Grenade the 1cmc goblin into the maniac for 5, (doubles to 10),
maniac swats opponent for 10 (doubles to 20).
Pathetic :(
