I actually found this card surprisingly useful in the pre-release in conjunction with my Selesnya deck with a black splash. With all the stab wounds that were being thrown around, this card provided a useful response. I ended up coming in fourth at my pre-release thanks to this guy helping me win a close game!

I was skeptical, then I played this in a Golgari Deck with a few Scavenge creatures. It got huge pretty quick, yea it required a mana investment over a few turns, but you're playing Green, Mana shouldn't be a problem.

Traitorous Instinct
Traitorous Blood
Mark of Mutiny

All in standard... It's a control feature. A win-more card. Hell, when you're done, Fling it. Best card ever, no. I'd use it in my Riku deck any day.

I HAVE FOUND ITS CALLING!

I currently run a heavy combo deck featuring this as one if its key stars!

Standard
I ramp up with Arbor Elf and Gatecreeper Vine to get to 5 mana. I get it so i have 2 forests, 2 plains and 1 island (or as close to. From these i run 4 O.rings and 4 Detention Spheres as well as 4 Supreme Verdict. I also run with 4 Gutter Grimes. Trick is destroy all creatures on board and get a shed load of tokens through gutter grime from the A.elves and Vines.

Problem is when you have a board load of shoddy 0/2 defenders and 1/1 mana elves and don't need them any more (they are there to die anyway!), you can use it as a false block, prevent an enemy attack, sac for G (with an untapped A.elf its technically free) and give Gobbling Ooze a +1/+1 counter.

I only use two however it is highly effective.

With the Blue enchantment Kindred spirit, Acidic Slimes and a single Conjurers closet, Predator Oozes and 2 Garruk Primal Hunters its gets intense.

4/5. Overcosted. 3/3 for 5. The activated ability is what put this into above average. Golgari colors will abuse scavenge with this guys mechanic. Other dedicated sac decks will maximize this card's potential.

I actually like it, if i got passed this in draft, i would take it, and in constructed i would consider it in golgari, im even considering a combo deck with this and a couple token generators, and with doubling season, you can double your money on each sac, as well as generate more tokens to sac, so i really think its underrated, i feel it should be at at least 3, maybe 3.5

I would so play this card in a fun ooze deck if it cost 3Green. That's what it should've cost for the p/t. There are no other mono-green oozes at the four mark and this would've fit the bill nicely to gobble up Mitotic Slime.

Underrated.

I run this thing in a Golgari-Simic deck with two Corpsejack Menaces and an Experiment Kraj.

Here's one memorable game when I got lucky on turn 7:

This thing's power doubles 3 times for every counter, so basically this thing went from a 3/3 to a 11/11 and finally to a 43/43 from one Novijen Heart of Process and the cost of one Dreg Mangler.

This is why our slimy little friend is an excellent card in the right deck.

4.5/5 from me.

Come on he's not that bad...

Play Renegade Krasis
Then Master Biomancer
Also have Ooze Flux and Death's Presence out and your laughing.

This guy can become quite monsterous, when Renegade evolves it will, make an Ooze with his +1/+1 counter, Master Biomancer will bring it out with x2 +1/+1 counters on it, Renegade elvoves again making the Ooze 4/4 now eat that Ooze and Gobbling Ooze will become a 8/8 at the expense of 3 mana.

Yeah it seems situational and you need everything to fit into place and sure you could probably use another creature in lieu but that's not the point!

I just like Ooze's. > <
