I like how it's a ring made of delicately-worked gold and found among the freshly sprouted fronds of clover and ferns and it gives trample.

The only card to bear the name Kalonia, Kalonian Behemoth, cannot equip the Ring of Kalonia.

Better than the blue ring, since +1/+1 counters and trample have a nice synergy. So it's ok for limited, but still too slow for constructed. 2.5/5

I like the Ring cycle, but I would have picked a different ability other than trample just because of Rancor being in the same set.

I love this ring. I can give counters and trample to my creatures all day.

Great artifact. Plus try running this with, instead of comparing to Rancor!... Think about it Turn 1 mana dork-turn 2-Loxodon-Turn 3- Rancor and drop ring & equip HELLO 6/4 trampler that gets bigger every round and even if creature is blow up then just 2 mana from then on starts the problems all over.

Possibly a Shandalar block coming, or possibly just a shout-out- like Tamiyo was. Wizards says some of their teasers are just that- teases.

EDIT: Unless I'm reading the signs wrong, Shandalaar is where the Core Set is set. No Blocks for it. Since it's the Core Set, it'll throw odds and ends in like Planeswalkers and Legends that don't match Shandalaar.

Xathrid Demon.
Kalonian Behemoth.
War-Priest of Thune.
Shandalaar is the New Dominaria. Like it or not.

About the Ring Cycle: Ring of Kalonia instantly makes Chromium, Arcades Sabboth, and Vaevictis Asmadi EDH decks more doable.

Luckily for Chromium, she can use Blue to change colors, and black to Tutor, so she can actually go quite all in on using Chromium FTW.

Nagoragama... Kalonian Tusker
And it's actually a decent target for it, green is the mana ramp colour, getting the tusker out on turn 2 and having a growing 3/3 trampler on turn 3 is nice.

Plus you can play this in a G/B deck with stuff like Corpsejack Menace and suddenly that little 2 mana creature sets you on a game ending clock.

T1: forest, Elvish Mystic
T2: forest, Kalonian Tusker (another Elvish Mystic if you have it would let you drop the ring on T2)
T3: forest, Ring of Kalonia on the Tusker, attack for 3 with trample
T4: Corpsejack Menace and your tusker grows +2/+2 every turn

You're setting your opponent on a (albeit pretty relaxed) timer by turn 4, with cards that don't scream "counter me now!" except the Corpsejack.
