Hasnt anyone thought of Heartless Summoning with this?! With a stromkirk captain on the field this is an awesome card!

Overpriced by about 1 mana, and even then, he would be a weak finisher in most cases. Yeah, yeah, "good in limited" and all, but anymore that's starting to sound like an excuse for people to defend bad cards.

in EDH i play him use his ability to block the opponent's biggest creatures and attack with 2-8 vamps

Can obviously be pricey at 6CMC, way too pricey for some formats, but it can be a reasonably powerful card when it does hit the table. It's a decent target for an offensive flicker-effect with its natural haste, its abilities might give you more bang for their buck than it might seem at first landing and with only the one specific mana 
can make his way into multicolor decks where flicker effects are more common.
