It is expensive, but good. It can target both creatures and players at instant speed. Pros like me will be using this as either a finisher or a bomb-killer.

Rating up purely for the art.

Steve Argyle is amazing, really.

Pretty underwhelming card in constructed, but a great finisher in Limited. At the prerelease I splashed this off of 1 Izzet gate and 2 Transguilds in my Azorius deck and ended up finishing more than one game with it.

All big damage spells are at least somewhat playable, but this one is painfully expensive. At least it is an instant.

Wait, {5}{R} isn't the overload cost?

Mana caost is a bit stepp, but this is an amazing finisher and removal for limited. This card is meant to be splashed for. Of course, it should be played in raskdos and that too, but if you got a couple guild gates and not a whole lot else going for you in red, you should seriously consider playing it.

I think this belongs in an Izzet deck. A couple of Goblin Electromancers on the field will make this much easier to play. And if you have a Mercurial Chemister out, he can deal 6 damage with it.

On another note, Wizards' artists have become a lot better at depicting fire. I love those bright reds and oranges!

Lava Axe and Thunderous Wrath have already been mentioned but here's two more 5 damage burn spells to add to the list of cards that beat it Beacon of Destruction and Unstable Footing

Either way. When I was at limited there were lots of new little Timmies who loved this card. It's a nice pure and simple card that hits hard and doesn't have any gimmicks. They will eventually learn how it is obsolete but for now they will enjoy blowing up their opponents fatties in casual.

An alright card in balance and playability.

It's Thunderous Wrath without that horrid "Miracle" mechanic. THANK FREAKIN' GOD.

In other words, Explosive Impact doesn't make you feel you're just flipping a coin to determine the winner of each round.
