From first-hand experience, this card is a workhorse in 2HG. A great use for leftover mana at the end of their turn in a format where you're likely to have lots of it.

Has worked wonders in my white splashing black mana commander deck. Quite easily a repeatable 3 or 4 points of life sap at the end of turn. Waiting for Athreos itself.

By both Spike and Vorthos standards, very close in use to Orzhov Guildmage.

If you're deck is 2-colored or base-White, I'd say Scholar is your better card.

If you like hoods and cloaks or you're going 3-5 Colored, pick the easy cast Hybrid. :)

Seems particularly well-costed for the ability. Blocks well while STILL eating opponents, and starts doing nasty things in the late game.
