@Arachibutyrophobia: Pretty sure that's why they added the non-legendary clause-so that people can keep their Commanders for when this guy makes a soft lock with any token-producing effects like Awakening Zone or Bitterblossom.

I happen to enjoy this quite a bit with a Phenax, God of Deception commander control deck I am working on. A big butt for milling and defending, and his ability is good for some tricks for a Phenax focused deck. Give someone one of your walls, or used ETB creatures likeArchaeomancer, or even a demon/other crazy creature that requires a payment they can't make, for one of their scary creatures. If you are running a devotion theme use Master of Waves and hand them a now 1/0 elemental. Feeling political, or chaotic? Swap opponents creatures around.

And to top it off, flavor! It is only fitting for the God of Deception to control a Djinn of Deceit!
