EDH and multiplayer Gold. Steal creatures that's about to die under a spell effect, or just when your opponent thinks he can safely let his general die...

Awesome card. A powerful effect, rarely seen in white, that is nonetheless white in flavor terms. If it was printed today, it would probably be blue/white, or maybe even blue/black.

This card is a direct chronological sequel to Desperate Gambit, which depicts Starke of Rath charging into the battle between Maraxus of Keld and Gerrard Capashen, the outcome of which we see here. Neato!

Oh, also, Debt of Loyalty is a really cool card. Save a creature from death, and it pledges its allegiance to you. You can use it to save your own threat or to steal your opponent's if it's going to die. Surprise! I'll be taking that!

Works well with Beast Within, because regeneration and the control swap will replace the destruction, causing you to become its controller by the time Beast Within checks for it (so YOU get the 3/3 Beast token). Best of all, this means you retain control of Starke of Rath if you cast Debt of Loyalty on his target!

Wait a minute...how does that flavor make sense?
