So I hear in the magical land of fair this card and psychatog don't co-exist in any deck. Mainly because psychatog doesn't exist. But that's the magical land of fair.

@Aidan_McDermott: Yes, it was used as a finisher in one deck for a little while.

@Trygon_Predator: Perhaps they had disappeared with the mass exodus at the end of the original Mirrodin block?

@NeoKoda: It's not that far-fetched, actually, as natural evolution won't necessarily remove traits which aren't beneficial, but not actively harmful either. Thus we see a great collection of tangential traits in modern, real organisms, and I would assume it would be the same for fantastical creatures. I mean, after all, if you're big enough, you could indeed just scarf your food down and let your powerful stomach acids do the rest.

Eats Ichor Wellsprings and Mycosynth Wellsprings for breakfast. Also likes to chow down on Spine of Ish Sah. Good fun alongside Furnace Celebration, too.

I'd argue that Megatog should have pro artifact. Hard to imagine an atog that big would fear any artifact.

Just in case this needs to be said, this is an evolved, more powerful Atog, down to the art. Trample is highly relevant, and prevents it from being chump-blocked forever, and in Mirrodin, there are tons to sacrifice to it.

@Aidan_Mcdermott

Arc Slogger was 4/5 for 5 mana. At its time, that was basically the biggest creature you could get in red for that mana efficiency and it would just end the game if your opponent got to 8 or less life (you start with 53 cards, how many games last 12 turns with a red deck?) I'd definitely play a card that said "Opponents start at 12 life, your library is smaller" in a red deck.

Also, the actual card: Depending on your opponent, 3/4 by itself is huge, not that it won't be at least a 6/7 in most combat. I've played a lot of decks that feature Atog-like creatures (Wild Mongrel w/Rancor being my favorite) and having higher toughness than power is really awesome. Surviving Lightning Bolts is a big deal and there is an extremely short list of creatures that survive this in combat if you can pump it even just twice. Myr Servitor, Myr Sire, M... (see all)

There are better atogs, but I strongly prefer this one. He loves Thopter Assembly. Enduring Renewal and Ornithopter works as well, but isn't as classy since it goes infinite. You get bonus points if you summon a Blightsteel Colossus and then feed it to your hungry lad. Interesting, and stompier than most. 5/5
