I don't think these types of cards are bad, but not great either. The nice part is they are castable just about when ever you have them in your hand, so you don't have to sit around waiting to get it out. The negative side is that it ends up costing more than a creature of it's power/toughness normally would. Regeneration is a plus for this one, but like Kruzewah said, if you tap out to make this guy as big as possible it's vulnerable right away.

"It took me like 20 seconds to figure out what that jumbled mess is. Some shadows would have been nice."

That's what you can expect from Magic's most overrated artist, Richard Kane Ferguson. Seen one of his paintings, seen 'em all.

Fully expecting a flurry of 0.5 star ratings for this comment. :-D

The card itself is pretty ho-hum. The art makes it a treasured part of my collection. To anyone who doesn't like RKF art, I suggest a quick trip to see the wizard. I bet he has a sense of artistic appreciation in that sack of his. Highly h-o-m-ogenized (screw you, auto-censor), cookie-cutter art, like you see in most of the new sets is boring. It all looks more or less the same, and rare is the artist that manages to stand out from that mountain of dross. Every RKF card is immediately recognizable because of his distinctive style. I would love to see a new set where WOTC enacts a strict 'no photoshop' policy. I miss the paintings. 5/5
