EDIT - GrimjawxRules: If a spell is still on the stack, it is still a legal target for other spells and abilities. If a player tries to counter your spell with Last Word, he must pass priority after doing so. You then have the opportunity to add additional instant-speed spells / abilities to the stack, like just going back and countering what you want a second time. Until both players pass priority without doing something, the stack is frozen in time, and nothing plays out.
I have to say that I appreciate you actually wanting to have a discussion about it, though. It's a lot more commendable than the six trolls who can't stand not knowing the rules (and consequently downrated my original post). I thought we were here to talk about cards, rather than hide behind an anonymous rating system.
Also, it's pretty funny that the "cum" from my username gets censored. It clearly wasn't inappropriate when I was signing up my account, but the filter can't seem to comprehend that now.

Along with Punish Ignorance, this is a great card for quoting the flavor text at your opponents. These will be the building blocks of umad.dec

It comes up often enough with negate and counter spell, but on the other hand its 4 mana instead of 2, or even 1 with some counter spells. I like it, but its usefulness is limited. Frankly I think counter spells more slow down your opponent than provide a win, universally useful while at the same time how many counter spells can you fit in one deck. The majority of top tier decks we see these days simply don't play counter spells, or if they do they are in the form of something that can use multiple choices on one card like cryptic command.

I got struck by the ability to negate counters cast on it, but then i analyzed it deeper. A wise player would just counter the original spell, not the counter that countered his counter. (Sorry for the grammatical contortion 'bout counters xP)

@scumbling1: I don't think that's how the stack works. I'm pretty sure you can't target spells that have already been responded to. Swift Silence could be an exception, but I think that's because it acts kinda like Wrath of God against creatures with Shroud.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

i admit its usefullnes is limited. but one of my freinds plays a counter deck that wins by stalling untill it gits out its huge creature. then he counters any attemptes you have of stopping it. not any more.
