I overlooked this card while making my Karador sacrifice for value EDH deck, but recently, I realized how bonkers it is as a tutor. For me, it fetches me a total of 13 cards, including Grave Pact, Wrath of God, Damnation, Solemn Simulacrum, Heartmender and Wickerbough Elder (both part of the main infinite combo the deck has), and Greater Good (my favorite sac outlet, and also part of an infinite draw combo). And that's just what it tutors for. The very act of transmuting puts him in the grave, reducing Karador's cost.
As a creature, though, he's meh. Fear is nice, but a 2/3 body for 4 kinda sucks, even if he can regenerate. I wouldn't want to cast him unless things are really getting bad, or if I really really need a sac outlet to gain value, and in that case, I might as well tutor Greater Good/autocar... (see all)
