Much better than piper. All (good) decks have something that can handle a 1/1 creature, while not all decks have something that can handle an artifact. This is simply insane, so hard to be rid of and so devastating. it is COLOURLESS, which is the thing I like best about it, it is an insanely useful card that doesn't favour one colour (which insanely useful cards shouldn't imo). Wouldn't play it though, getting emrakul out for 4 mana is kinda lame.

@ DeathDark: Inferior to Elvish Piper? You got to be kidding me. This amulet is far better than the piper. It doesn't neet green mana, it's no 1 toughness dork that dies when you pat him on the shoulder, and it can be used the turn it comes into play, while the piper has to sit around for a full turn. Sitting around for full turn is a huge disadvantage, since you give your opponent the possibility to react with sorcery speed removal, to draw another card that might be the removal one, and to untap, so your opponent has the mana available to play any removal.
This card ain't the best card ever, but it's waaaaaaaaaaaay better than the piper.

I agree that this is, in many ways, superior to Elvish Piper. I've ran it in my Angel deck for a long time and it simply gels extremely well, the rest of the deck is enchantments along with Serra's Sanctum so getting this out quickly and using it is pretty simple. It doesn't die to the abundance of creature removal and for what it does, is inexpensive when your talking about slamming an Akroma or Reya into play on the 4th or 5th turn...

lol, play the amulet, use Diabolic Tutor to get Emrakul, The Aeons Torn into your hand if you dont have it already, then use the amulet to get out your 15/15 on turn 4 or 5.

Strictly inferior to Elvish Piper. Piper is legal in standard, and her effect only costs G. In order to play-and-drop with this, you need 8 mana sources. In order to play-and-drop with Piper, you need 5 mana sources, two of them green.

Getting Darksteel Colossus or Progenitus out quick? How about summoning Progenitus on THEIR 3rd turn after they declare attackers? Next turn you bring out Lorthos, the Tidemaker and ANOTHER Piper. The person I did that to forfeited soon after that.

This gets whatever you want into play turn 3 if you build your deck right, Begining of game reveal Chancelor of the Tangle and drop 2 lanowar elves, or 2 arbor elves, or 2 birds of paradise, or any combination on turn 1, turn 2 play amulet, turn 3 play any big creature you happen to have in hand.

Emrakul, The Aeons Torn. Granted you won't get the extra turn, but still is a lot quicker.
